Jeremy Malone
P.8
Biodiversity
Biodiversity is a big part of the life cycle of the earth. Humans have impacted biodiversity more than almost all of the environmental issues combined. The polar bear. My favorite animal. 1. The polar bear is the largest land carnivore of the era we live in. The humazanic era. It feeds mainly on seals, sea lions, and fish. Polar bears stick to the arctic circle.2. The word “arctic” derives from the Greek word “bear” and because there are no polar bears in the South Pole that is why the continent is named “Antarctica” means “no bear”. Polar bears do not hibernate. The mothers will sometimes stay in a den while pregnant in order to stay away from dangers and protect their young.

Polar bears are of the bear species, but because of their adaptations to the harsh climate of the arctic, there are rumors that they are not of the bear species, which is obviously a fluke because they are cold polar “bears”. 3..Polar bears will wait at a hole in the ice where seals come up for air, until one decides his lungs are too small and comes up for air, but when he comes up for air, the seal is now lunch for the polar bear. Because of human activity, “green house gases” are being trapped within the earth’s atmosphere causing the ice to melt which is part of the polar bears natural habitat. We have tried to stop making so much green house gases but we just can’t seem to stop. Hopefully the polar bear won’t completely die out, or there is going to be a lot of seals, which will create an imbalance in the food chain of the arctic.

Plant biodiversity is also a big part of the earth’s life, and our lives since we eat so much salad. The orange. My favorite fruit. The best oranges are found in Florida. Oranges go great with just about anything. They also are great replacements for baseballs. Because humans are cutting down so many trees in Florida, they don’t realize that they are cutting down orange trees, and that’s just wrong. Without oranges, scientists will not be able to make a new fruit of the same color without killing someone. Crops are another big part of plant biodiversity. Crops seem to be the main concerned with plant biodiversity actually, which is kind of sad.

We can’t forget about the orange though. Anyway, because humans have so much control over crops their will hardly be any more different species of vegetable or fruit, which will sooner or later, make vegetables boring and unsellable. 4. Some areas, that do not have the kind of plants with food growing from them that other areas do, depend on the biodiversity of plants in order to make new fruits and food for them to eat from. The ocean, which goes back to animal biodiversity.5. Over the cores of a decade, mankind has created over 50 dead zones in the earth’s oceans, where fish and other sea life can no longer sustain life. There are over five hundred words in this project so I’m done now.
